ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer will not run on Surface with Windows RT, the new tablet from Microsoft. Windows RT, optimized for the ARM processor in that tablet, does not support desktop applications.
Surface with Windows RT is a new tablet from Microsoft. It uses an ARM processor (CPU) and comes with the Windows RT operating system, a variation of Windows 8 specifically optimized for the ARM architecture. One of the major differences between Windows RT and other editions of Windows, including Windows 8, is its lack of support for desktop applications.
Windows RT will run apps from the Windows Store but cannot execute your standard Windows desktop applications, which are designed for x86 based CPUs. You’ll need Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, or a prior version of Windows in order to run desktop applications like ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer.
A more detailed description of the differences between Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows RT can be found in this blog article from Microsoft. You’ll see in their comparison chart that “Installation of x86/64 and desktop software” is not supported on Windows RT.
