The ProShow Remote app allows you to interact with ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer, version 6, from an iOS device. The ProShow Remote app connects directly to your desktop software over the local Wifi network and acts like a bridge between the two applications. Once connected, you can import content into ProShow from your device, publish shows directly to your device, and even control preview playback within ProShow.
Any device running iOS 6 and later can run the app. If it shows in the App Store from your device, you can use it. We recommend iOS 7 for the best experience. For a full list of iOS-7 compatible devices, click here.
ProShow Remote requires the ProShow Gold or ProShow Producer desktop application, version 6 and later. To check the version of the ProShow desktop application you have installed, go to Help within the program and select About ProShow from the drop down menu. To check your upgrade eligibility for ProShow desktop, click here.
We’d love to do an Android version, however the wide variety of Android devices and operating systems made it impratical to develop for Android with the initial release. If our iOS app is successful, we’ll likely add support for Android at some point in the future. Click here to sign up for updates regarding an Android version of the app.
The ProShow Remote app is free. There is no cost to download and install the app on your iOS device. However, you will need ProShow desktop software version 6, or later, to take advantage of the features built into the app. To try ProShow Gold or ProShow Producer 6, click here. To buy ProShow desktop software, click here.
To connect the ProShow desktop application to the ProShow Remote app, start by launching ProShow 6 on your computer and the Remote app on your iOS device. In ProShow, go to Tools > ProShow Remote App > Connect to Device, then tap the blue Connect button on your device to connect to your computer. ProShow will display a code that must be entered into the Remote app. Please enter that code from ProShow into the app on your device and tap the green Connect button to finalize the connection process. In ProShow, go to File > Import Content from Service or App and select ProShow Remote from the list of available options. In ProShow, go to Tools > ProShow Remote App > Configure and check the Automatically enable remote control on startup checkbox. Now the ProShow Remote app will automatically connect to the ProShow desktop software when you run your app on your device and the ProShow desktop software is running on your computer.
The app will run on your cellular data network, but we highly recommend using the app on your local WiFi network. Connecting to ProShow over a local connection is much easier and provides a vastly superior experience. Your device can connect to the ProShow desktop software when not on the local network, using your external IP address, but may require special configuration.
In ProShow, go to Publish > ProShow Remote App. Select the video quality of your choice (Choose 360p, 480p, 720p or 1080p) and click Publish to create the video for your device. ProShow desktop will render your show and automatically push the video to the ProShow Remote app when it is complete. Click here for a detailed walk through on this topic.
Note: The ProShow Remote app must be running on your device during this process. If you need help connecting your device, click here.
