Show Hidden Folders and File Extensions in Windows

To troubleshoot problems with ProShow running on Windows, you may need to show hidden files and folders or file extensions.  Use the steps listed below to show hidden files, folders and the filename extensions for your version of Windows.

 

Windows 8.1 and 10

  1. In Windows 8.1 + Windows 10, right-click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel dialog, single-click Appearance and Personalization.
  3. In the Appearance and Personalization dialog, single-click Folder Options (Windows 8.1) or File Explorer Options (Windows 10).
  4. In the Folder Options dialog box, select the View tab.
  5. To Show hidden files + folders, select Show hidden files, folders and drives from the Advanced Settings section.
  6. To show file extensions, uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox, and click OK.

 

Windows 7

  1. Click the Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel dialog, single-click Appearance and Personalization.
  3. In the Appearance and Personalization dialog box, single-click Folder Options, or click Show hidden files and folders under Folder Options.
  4. In the Folder Options dialog, select the View tab.
  5. To Show hidden files + folders, select Show hidden files, folders and drives from the Advanced Settings section.
  6. To show file extensions, uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox, and click OK.

 

You should now be able to see hidden folders and file extensions on all files in Windows.
